Best Food at Disneyland

An Honest, Opinionated Food Guide by Land

Disneyland food ranges from genuinely excellent to overpriced mediocrity, and knowing the difference saves you both money and stomach space. I've eaten my way through every land more times than my doctor would approve of, and this is the honest ranking. No, I'm not going to tell you the corn dog is mid — it's legitimately great. But some of the sit-down restaurants? Let's talk.

    Main Street, U.S.A.

Main Street is mostly about snacks and quick bites. The sit-down options are fine but not destination-worthy.

    • Jolly Holiday Bakery Café

The Matterhorn Macaroon is iconic and actually good. The toasted cheese and tomato soup combo is solid for lunch. Reasonable prices for Disney. Go early — the line gets absurd by 11 AM.

    • Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor

Hand-scooped ice cream that's a tier above the soft serve elsewhere. The cookies-and-cream sundae is worth the wait.

    • Candy Palace

The candy apples look better than they taste (too much coating), but the chocolate-covered marshmallow wands are addictive.

    Adventureland

Home to the single most famous Disneyland food item.

    • Dole Whip (Tiki Juice Bar)

You already know. The pineapple float is the move — you get both the soft serve and ice-cold juice. The line looks long but moves fast.

    • Bengal Barbecue

Underrated skewers that are perfect for eating on the go. The bacon-wrapped asparagus is surprisingly good. The Banyan Beef skewer is reliable.

    • Tropical Imports

Fresh fruit cups. Not exciting, but when it's 95°F, cold pineapple and watermelon hit different.

    New Orleans Square

The best overall food land in Disneyland. Not close.

    • Café Orléans

The pommes frites (three-cheese Monte Cristo-style) are insane. The three-cheese and crab gumbo crêpes are worth a reservation. One of the few sit-down restaurants I actually recommend.

    • Mint Julep Bar

The mint julep (non-alcoholic) is refreshing perfection. Pair it with a Mickey beignet — they're served warm and dusted in powdered sugar. Yes, you will get sugar everywhere.

    • Royal Street Veranda

Clam chowder and gumbo in bread bowls. The bread bowl is fresh, the soups are hearty. Solid lunch option.

    • Blue Bayou Restaurant

Let me be honest: you're paying for the atmosphere (eating inside Pirates of the Caribbean). The food is decent but not $50-per-entrée good. Go for a special occasion, not for the food itself.

    Frontierland & Critter Country

Comfort food territory with some crowd favorites.

    • Hungry Bear Restaurant

Best counter-service dining atmosphere in the park — covered patio over the river. The fried chicken sandwich is solid, and the plant-based options are better than you'd expect.

    • Rancho del Zocalo

Surprisingly authentic Mexican food for a theme park. The street tacos are good, the rice and beans are freshly made. Generous portions.

    Fantasyland & Tomorrowland

Honestly, the weakest food areas in the park. A few exceptions.

    • Red Rose Taverne

The Grey Stuff (it's delicious — don't believe me, ask the dishes). It's a cookies-and-cream mousse-topped cupcake that lives up to the hype.

    • Alien Pizza Planet

It's pizza. It's fine. You're really just here because the kids are hungry and you're near Space Mountain. Not worth seeking out.

    • Corn Dog Castle (DCA, actually)

The hand-dipped corn dog is legitimately one of the best things at the resort. The batter is made fresh, the dog is high-quality. Worth the walk to DCA even if you're spending the day at Disneyland.

    Disney California Adventure Highlights

DCA has quietly become the better park for food, especially during the Food & Wine Festival.

    • Lamplight Lounge

Best overall restaurant at the resort. Lobster nachos are legendary. The waterfront patio at sunset is magical. Make reservations 60 days out.

    • Carthay Circle Restaurant

The biscuits with the storm topping — do it. Upscale but worth it for a celebratory meal.

    • Award Wieners

Gourmet hot dogs that rotate seasonally. Whatever the special is, it's usually worth trying.

    • Cocina Cucamonga

The chicken birria quesadilla is absolutely loaded. Best value meal in DCA.

    • Cozy Cone Motel

Flavored popcorn, ice cream, and churro bites in Cars Land. The bread cone with chili is surprisingly filling.

Pro Tips for Eating at Disneyland

Eat at off-peak times. Lunch at 11 AM, dinner at 4:30 PM. You'll skip 30-minute food lines.

Mobile order everything. The Disneyland app lets you order ahead at most quick-service spots. This alone saves 20+ minutes per meal.

Share meals. Disney portions are large. Two adults can comfortably split an entrée and a snack.

Free water is everywhere. Any quick-service counter will give you a free cup of ice water. Don't waste $5 on bottled water.

Budget hack: Eat a big breakfast at your hotel, have one proper meal in the park, and snack the rest of the day. You'll spend $30–40 per person instead of $80+.
